Two of Fox's brightest stars flash their respective sitcom savvy in this farce about a white guy (we're pretty sure that's Ashton Kutcher) who has to go meet his black future father-in-law (Bernie Mac?). The rest, as they say, sucks. Based on the serious-as-racism original (1967's Guess Who's Coming to Dinner), this updated version chooses instead to yuk it up at the expense of centuries of racial tension. Ashton leans heavily on his goofball physical comedy, and Mac bulges his eyes amid a heaping serving of misunderstandings, borderline racist jokes, and yawns. It's nothing you haven't already seen on network TV. Yet behind the hilarity, there is a message: Don't judge a person by his race. Unfortunately, we have to judge this comedy by its laughs, and it was about as funny as a Rodney King joke. White people and black people may be different, but Guess Who will offend both.
