With its heavy drug use, wanton nudity, and superabundance of crass humor, Harold and Kumar has all the makings of a classic for bong operators nationwide. John Cho (the American Pie MILF guy) and Kal Penn (the Van Wilder Indian guy) star as a pair of buds who, after partaking of some chronic, head out on an all-night voyage across New Jersey in search of a White Castle. Though the premise may sound like a typical Deadhead diatribe, Harold and Kumar is actually an effective satire (product placement aside) on American culture as seen through the eyes of two of its customary outsiders. Social issues, like racial stereotypes, are explored, and at times hysterically exploited, without compromising the lowbrow wit that keeps this road trip trucking. Appearances by Anthony Anderson, Ryan Reynolds, and an unrecognizable Christopher Melonias the aptly-named, boil-plagued Freakshowwill keep you tittering like a college junior parked in front of an Adult Swim marathon. However, no amount of White Castle burgers can compare with the joy of watching Doogie Howser himself, Neil Patrick Harris, tweaked on ecstasy and humping a car seat. Now that's what we crave.
