Author J.K. Rowling’s bajillion-dollar Potter franchise picks up steam again with the much-anticipated release of the second film based on her children’s series. Unfortunately, much of that steam is blown off early in the film’s exhaustive two hour and 41 minute length. No amount of wizardry can make those ass blisters disappear. For that reason, you may want to think twice about bringing any child under the age of 8. Besides, the film is damn scary with giant spiders, a murderous tree, a petrified (i.e., very dead looking) cat, ill-intentioned snakes, Kenneth Branagh, and more—though nothing in it is quite as unsettling as watching the affable but unfortunate stars struggle through puberty so publicly.
