Both fans of the series and the uninitiated can appreciate this fourth Potter film's darker turn and PG-13 rating, but the hours of extra enchantment packed onto this two-disc special edition DVD are clearly not for mere Muggles. (If you didn't get that reference, stop reading now.) The Yule Ball featurette, in which the pubescent actors discuss their anxiety over having to dance with someone of the opposite sex, offers no real insight on the film's production, but will resurrect awkward memories of your first junior high dance…and second…and third. Another supplement features British writer-director Richard Curtis (most likely vying for a crack at the next flick) sitting down with the kids for a heart-to-heart interview about the film, but nonfans will turn it off faster than a James Lipton exclusive with Anna Nicole Smith. At 157 minutes, the movie itself takes longer than one of J.K. Rowling's tedious tomes, so stick with the single-disc edition.
