Yes, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is about a rocknroll drag queen lamenting his/her botched sex-change operation (hence, the titular angry inch). And, yes, the movie includes lots of musical moments and man love. But writer, director, and star John Cameron Mitchell with his music collaborator Stephen Trask have translated their award-winning Off-Broadway play for the screen with the storys undeniable humor and wit intact. So, yes, you could dismiss this film out of hand just because of its subject matter. But you will find yourself laughing at Hedwigs misadventures if, say, your girlfriend made you go.
