As if kung fu doesn't boast enough retina-detaching action, House of Flying Daggers takes the aerial chops and kicks to another level by adding furious knife play that would make the Iron Chef crap his baggies. Like most flicks in the genre, the artful, subtitled love story comes with its down moments, but each fight scene tops the last and the supplements get tangled up in the wire action. The "Making of" touches on elements of the fighting, but mostly consists of director Yimou Zhang (Hero) cheerleading the love story. (Yeah, that's why guys were flocking to the theater
) The real action takes place in the "Look Inside the Effects" featurette, which provides multiple angles and before-and-after comparisons for all the stunt sequences, including 3-D arrows, heat-seeking swords, and dancing knives. More behind-the-scenes stunt shots pop up in the storyboard comparison feature, but just be sure not to try any of the tricks at homeyou could lose a remote finger.
