Writing god David Mamet's directorial debut is by far one of the best con films ever made. Lindsay Crouse plays a psychiatrist who's drawn into the underworld by super-slick con artist Joe Mantegna in the definitive role of his career. Since House of Games has been ripped off so many times the plot may not be that surprising if you've never seen it before, but the dialogue ("You can't bluff someone who's not paying attention"), pacing, and story still holds up 20 years later. The extras, ranging from one of the best commentaries you'll ever hear (Mamet and one of our favorite actors Ricky Jay), new interviews with Crouse and Mantegna, and some behind-the-scenes footage make this a must-have for anyone as obsessed with con artist films as we are.
