The Skinny: Mild-mannered book binder Mo Folchart (Brendan Fraser) discovers that he has the ability to summon characters out of books by reading aloud. When a villianous character (Andy Serkis) threatens to use this ability to wreck havoc, Mo and his daughter embark on a mission to save the world and Mo's long-lost wife.

The Good: Look, any movie that encourages people to read is a good thing. Inkheart definitely skews towards a young crowd, but it's surprisingly dark at points and doesn't shy away from violence or scares. And Helen Mirren is pretty damn funny.

The Bad: Again, unless you have kids or just learned to read at a fifth grade level, this really isn't a movie you're going to rush out to see. And to be honest, we're getting a bit fatigued by the based-on-a-beloved-fantasy-book-series genre of movies, and this isn't remarkable enough to change that.

Hair Apparent: Fraser can officially compete with Nic Cage when it comes to magical mystery hair. Whatever that dead Pomeranian is on his head, it ain't working.

Theater, DVD, or TNT in Five Years? It's a treat for the younger set, with a positive message. Adults will be bored.
