What a way to end the summer! Here is the ultimate fantasy come true for any sports fan. Invincible is a rousing achievement on every level, a unique and incredible true story with hope, grit and heart in its playbook. Mark Wahlberg just nails it as Vince Papale, a 30-year-old barkeep who wins a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles and becomes the biggest long shot rookie in NFL history. Once he joins the squad, the film does fall into some of the familiar clichés, but due to the smart underplaying of the film’s leads and a script that doesn’t completely succumb to convention, Invincible has enough underdog spirit to rise above the pack. If this movie doesn’t make you want to stand up and cheer, you probably don’t have a pulse!
