Because a movie as meticulously crafted as Jackass: The Movie offers such invaluable insight into modern filmmaking, a DVD like this is more a public service than anything else. That, and all those stunts, staples, and homoerotic man-panties are too damn funny. Enjoy MTVs Making of the Movie feature free from trigger-happy TV censors. Sift through outtake footage and even more scenes of the guys imperiling themselvesincluding the original Failed Ending, a splendid glimpse into what happens when a Jackass stunt really goes awry. But most importantly, behold the real achievement of this package: interesting commentary. Listen to director Jeff Tremaine recount the many different occasions that he thought Johnny Knoxville was dead, and distinguish when guys are actually in pain versus when theyre just hamming it up. Then switch over to the rest of the cast fighting for airtime by hurling personal attacks at one another while offering no insight into whats happening on-screen whatsoever. Remember, enjoy it as a movie but cherish it as a learning tool.
