Ah, Lara. For better or for worse, the release of Tomb Raider on DVD gives you a chance to take a fresh look at the movie without the mammary-induced haze you saw it through the first time. Actually, this is mostly for worse. For all its flash, the movie is pretty stiff (sorry) and lifeless. Luckily, they decided to load up the disc with enough supplemental goodies to keep you entertained.

There are features about the evolution from game to movie (“Digging into Tomb Raider,” “Are You Game?”), in-depth documentaries about the technical aspects of production, and enough self-praise from Director Simon West to almost convince you that this was the second coming of Indiana Jones. Our favorite bits: the deleted scenes (oh, so that’s where the villain’s part went) and the “Crafting Lara Croft” documentary. In it, you get to watch Angelina Jolie physically sculpt herself into Lara…Ahhh…Oh, sorry. Also, while on the “Special Features” menu, move the cursor to highlight the wavy lines underneath the “Main Menu” button. When you click it, you get a special interview with Jolie and her pop, Jon Voight, discussing how much they enjoyed working together. Sigh.
