A second installment of Lara Croft on the big screen has a couple of benefits (each tightly crammed into Angelina Jolie’s hermetically sealed body suit) and numerous drawbacks (unnecessary, uninspired, unbearable). This time around, Croft is on a mission to keep the wrong hands off of Pandora’s box and save the world! And it’s actually worse than it sounds! Extras dig for relevant material, but unearth little, starting with nap-inducing commentary by director Jan De Bont on how to film Jolie in a bone-tight body suit (the short version: keep her on camera as much as possible), followed by shots of our heroine working out to develop into Croft’s chiseled frame, on-set vehicle and weapons breakdowns, and a host of other vapid supplements that should help lay this one to rest at the bottom of Wal-Mart value bins nationwide.
