The Pitch: Unlikely partners Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), a crazy loose cannon, and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), a by the book family man on the verge of retirement, face down drug dealers, evil South Africans, crooked cops, Jet Li and a whiny Joe Pesci.

What It Really Is: All four Lethal Weapon movies packaged together on Blu-ray for the first time. The first two are genuine classics, giving birth to the cop buddy genre. Some think Lethal Weapon 2 is the best of the series, but we feel the original will always be the best. By Lethal Weapon 3 things start to get stale and jokes supercede action. Lethal Weapon 4 makes us sad.

Does Blu-ray Make a Difference? To varying degrees, yes. The quality gets better as the films get worse. The low budget original made in the mid-80s looks the best it can due to the original prints. The sequel is in widescreen and has a noticeable bump in quality. The third and fourth look and sound incredible on a technical level. Too bad they’re shitty. However, the bonus disc of extras, featuring interviews from 2010, make it all worthwhile.

Special Features: Each film has a commentary with director Richard Donner and deleted scenes (the first one has the most, which had been included in the director’s cut of the film). There are also teaser and theatrical trailers included, but the best stuff appears on the bonus disc.
