Imagine walking down the street and some bum foretells that youll be dead in a week. Youd either dismiss his ranting, or youd fall into a downward spiral of debauchery and hedonism. But what if you are a successful news reporter with a life so perfect you make the Olsen twins look dysfunctional? You cant just give in to some old fool whos had one too many Colt 45s this morning, can you? Alas, Angelina Jolies superstitious side gets the better of her in this fluffy, romantic quest for the meaning of life.
With a blond bouffant Marilyn would have been proud of, the prissy reporter throws her roots to the wind and embarks on a campaign to extract some meaning and purpose from her seemingly cushy time on terra firma. Add a boyfriend with the emotional capacity of a Lego figure, a sister whose spouse is a sex addict, and a dad who pines for his deceased wife and, well, youd probably be wishing for an untimely end too. Although you might be curious to see what transpires, with a plot straight out of Fantasy 101, Life or Something Like It will certainly not make you think any differently the next time you hear some homeless guy spewing crap.
