Live Free or Die Hard Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition)

Release Date:
Tuesday, November 20, 2007
Star Rating:
★★★★★
Not only is Live Free or Die Hard one of the best movies of 2007, but it gets better on DVD, thanks to an unrated version we wish were in the theater. (How dare anyone bring a weak-ass PG-13 rating to this franchise.) For those of you doubting the unrated tag, which has burned us all in the past, this is legit, and all the necessary profanity is added back in. While the main cyber-terrorist villain, Timothy Olyphant, doesn't stack up against Alan Rickman or Jeremy Irons, he gets his evil groove midway through. And the Mac guy (Justin Long) as McClane's sidekick turns out to be a really funny dude. Plus, Mary Elizabeth Winstead rocks as Lucy McClane all grown up, gorgeous as hell, and kicking ass. The second disc doesn't skimp on detailing the mind-blowing stunts, as well as giving us a brutally honest 20-minute conversation between Willis and Kevin Smith, where Willis expresses his disappointment in the middle two movies and says he'd actually do a fifth Die Hard. Yippee-Ki-Yay motherfucker! (Remember, this is the unrated version, so we're allowed to curse.)
