The Skinny: Eddie Murphy plays a space alien who flies to earth in a ship that looks like Eddie Murphy. Once Space Ship Murphy arrives, he tries to get his space ship to blend into modern-day New York City. Typical Borat-/Joe Buck–type fish-out-of-water moments ensue.

The Good: Deciding that his suit is out of fashion, Space Ship Murphy reports to Old Navy. His strategy is to mimic, so he walks around the store saying, "Welcome to Old Navy!" while creeping people out. It's annoying product placement at first, but, oddly, the repetition of the phrase makes this one of the few funny scenes in the movie.

The Bad: Predictably, the aliens have come to earth with bad intentions, but then learn that earth isn't such a bad place after all. Aw. Cue the After School Special music. The aliens are terribly suppressed, but after a few days on earth, they learn to let their freak flags fly. Yes, one deck officer comes out, realizing he's a gay stereotype from 1996.

We Would Watch Her Read the Damn Phone Book: Elizabeth Banks—Hi Liz!—plays the woman who runs over Space Ship Murphy with her car in an early scene, and then befriends him.

See It, Rent It, or TNT It? Ah, what the hell, rent it.
