Miami Vice: The Complete Series

If you were smart like Sonny Crockett you would have held off on buying all five seasons of Miami Vice separately in anticipation of this rad box set. (Look, it was either "rad" or "totally tubular." Our '80s lingo is pretty rusty.) We understand if you couldn't control yourself; so if your already own all five seasons separately there's no reason to buy the same ones all over again. But if you were patient, you'll have them all neatly packed in a white faux-alligator-skin box with a teal inside lining that gives us chills whenever we look at it. (This must be how chicks get when they buy shoes.) All five seasons packaged together, which amount to 27 discs and 111 episodes, are a complete and fitting time capsule to a show that defined a decade, murdered fashion sense, and spawned an unnecessary movie starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. The only complaint is there are no real extras, with the exception of a few featurettes on the first season set. The least they could have done is thrown an extra disc in there with a documentary. But this is a strict repackaging of a classic show that ensures bed sores and nostalgia for a time when people could wear a white blazer with the sleeve rolled up and not be called a douche bag.
