Each Film Sold Separately:  These Blu-rays are sold separately, but we felt guilty breaking this saga apart. So we mega-sized this review with more Norris than your face can handle.

The Pitch: Missing in Action follows a tormented ex-POW Vietnam vet Jim Braddock (Chuck Norris!!!) as he gathers proof that American soldiers are still being held captive in the jungle more than a decade after the war. Missing In Action 2: The Beginning is a prequel that shows how Braddock survived his own stay in a bamboo prison, overcoming torture and refusing to turn on his country or men. USA! USA! USA!

What Missing In Action Really Is: 80s cheese at its height. We love these rah-rah action flicks, but the first film is a complete, hilarious mess. It tries to tackle issues, but there are long stretches where nothing happens...unless you consider horrible acting “something.” We’ve seen so many great Vietnam movies since that it now fun to watch the movies that inspired Tropic Thunder.

What Missing In Action 2: The Beginning Really Is: Simply fucking awesome. Rather than having Norris traipse around the globe this stays focused on him as a POW. It’s still cheesy and gloriously craps all over the Viet Cong and their devious ways, but there’s lots more excitement.

Does Blu-ray Make a Difference? Eh. The last thing they were thinking while making these movies was visual and audio quality. But we applaud Fox for digging these out of the archive and putting them on Blu-ray.
