Charlize Theron debunks that old bromide that beauty is merely skin deep by gaining 30 pounds and sitting through eight-hour makeup sessions to portray Aileen Wournos, one of the first female serial killers. And while we couldn't have been happier seeing her revert to her delicious form, one look at her as the prostitute turned murderer in Monster, and Theron no doubt earned that Oscar. Supplements here are scarce, but a movie like this doesn't need much. The "Making of Monster" sits in on a makeup session to take the beauty off Theron and interviews the owners and patrons of the dive bar where Wournos was arrested. Two audio featurettes round out the rest of the extra material, but again, this one should come home with you on the strength of the feature, and featured actress, alone.
