We don’t really mean to pick on Monster’s Ball, but it just happens to be one of the many DVDs to include a featurette on the score. Does anyone enjoy these? Does anyone clamor for more information on them? Somehow, we doubt it. And yet, there they are.
However, the rest of the Monster’s Ball DVD is adequate if not spectacular. There are a few very brief deleted bits (mostly featuring more interaction between Billy Bob Thornton and Peter Boyle) that begin and end so quickly you might mistake them for one scene and commentaries featuring many of the film’s major players. Director Marc Foster’s first few comments about the “sci-fi” opening credit fonts might have you saying, “How did this yutz direct a movie?”, but he settles in and offers some unique insights. Oh, and to answer your question: No, there are no additional Halle Berry nude scenes. So settle down.
