Moonlight Mile

You’re trying to escape an impending marriage when you discover that your fiancée has been killed. Problem solved, right? Not when there’s 90 minutes of movie left to fill in this dark comedy that tests our understanding of life, death, and the average film. At least the Moonlight Mile DVD keeps it tight, with deleted scenes and a “making of”—though it’s one of those featurettes that delves way deeper into production (casting, sets, soundtrack, zzzzz) than necessary. Commentary by the two stars (Dustin Hoffman and Jake Gyllenhaal) and director (the loathesomely loquacious Brad Silberling) wrap up this perfectly plain package—for a perfectly plain movie.
