As usual, Woody Allen plays a creepy womanizer and Helen Hunt once again playsHelen Hunt, the intelligent go-getter whos a threat to her male counterparts until they fall under her spell. The two butt heads at the office, but when they are hypnotized at a party, they are brainwashed to love each other and follow the commands of the Jade Scorpion. The hypnotist uses his power to guide them through a string of jewel robberies, which their own insurance firm must then investigate.
The movie delivers some great moments and clever one-liners, but the space between them is too great, and the characters are too dull to keep the story moving. Plus, watching the shriveled little neurotic and a 300-pound Dan Aykroyd kiss and flirt with a myriad of beautiful ladies is as nauseating as a trip down the Sizzler buffet line. The film is definitely worth renting, but spending 8 bucks on Jade Scorpion will really sting. (Sorry, we couldnt resist).
