You know it had to happen. First the cartoon series, then the fridge magnets, and then the lunch boxes. Now those cutesy rogues, the Powerfpuff Girls, have taken the next lucrative step towards 2-D immortalization with their debut appearance on the silver screen. Serving as a prequel to the television series, this action-adventure animé-fest finds cartoon’s answer to Charlie’s Angels in the same shit but on a different day.

Unwittingly helping nemesis Mojo Jojo unleash an army of crazed apes onto Townsville, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup have to reclaim the trust of an irate community—combining a lot of ‘power’ and a bit of ‘puff’ as they set to the task of saving the day. With enough nauseating graphics and rumbling sound effects to rival any Japanese Saturday morning cartoon, this is not ideal for those with a heart condition or any form of nervous tension, but if you’re high, or in any way incapacitated, then hold on to your popcorn as your pupils are sure to be blissfully dilated à la those bug-eyed heroines. Just don’t forget that it’s only a cartoon.
