Maid in Manhattan

Ah…no. Despite all of the film’s jokes about J.Lo’s “assets,” Maid in Manhattan is nothing more than the formulaic chick flick it appears to be. Jenny from the Block plays Marisa Ventura, a gal…from the block in this Cinderella-on–Park Avenue tale. Ralph Fiennes (remember the lizard-lipped Red Dragon, anyone? we did—creepy) appears as the politico Marisa sets her sights on and, well, you should run far and fast. Any film that inspires a phalanx of females exiting it to sniff “that was cute” is just not for you.
