Darkness Falls vowed to make us scared of the dark. Instead, it just reaffirmed our fear of a horror movie based on an evil tooth fairy.

When the town of Darkness Falls—it’s the name of the town and the movie!—is revisited by the 150-year-old “Tooth Fairy” curse, Kyle Walsh (Chaney Kley) must face his fears and come home to save his childhood sweetheart (Emma Caulfield). Funny horror movies are for us, and even unintentionally funny horror movies can be a treat—we’re just not clear on where constantly repeating the phrase “night terrors” with a straight face ranks. Other than the early (and easy) jolting scares, the most frightening part comes toward the film’s end in a flurry of cheap special effects, the tragic results of going over budget and running out of cash. If you enjoy yelling back at a dumb film in an empty theater with a six-pack, Darkness suits your needs—on second thought, make that a 12-pack.
