Grind harks back to that uncomfortable period in your lifewhen your wallet chain was your only friend and your skateboard was your only ride out of the suburbsand packs it all into a wandering teenage road-trip flick. With an emphasis on wandering. And teenage. And lame fucking movie. Just after graduating from high school, Eric (Mike Vogel), Matt (Vince Vieluf), and Dustin (Adam Brody) hit the road in the hopes of getting sponsored on the pro skater tour, and we get to come along for the ride of their lives. Among the wacky misadventures they encounter out on the road are girls, disappointing Jackass cameos, and voice cracks. Even passable skating sequences could have distracted us from all of the other problems grinding this mess to a bloody faceplant, but Grind settles for random cameos of skaters demonstrating why theyre not actors. Now we know roughly what its like to head down a half-pipe without a helmet. Or wheels. Or legs.
