Straight outta Pig Sty, a crazy motherfucker named Donut inadvertently teams up with two unassuming neighbors of comparable kung fu mastery when their impoverished 'hood comes under attack by the menacing Axe Gang. What follows is an indescribable fluster of flying fists, aerial acrobatics, and bad teeth in a film that's one part Enter the Dragon, one part The Matrix, and another part Looney Tunes. Director Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer) stars as the catalyst in a conflict that begins as a gang war and ends as a slapstick quest for China's top kung fu master. While there's been a recent glut of martial arts flicks, this one's a throat-chop above the rest, owing to its endearing characters, genuinely absurd humor, and fight sequences that are some of the most imaginative we've seen since Björk. Just remember to pre-moisten your eyeballs before being seated: These fu fighters pack more action than a seizure-inducing anime marathon.
