After cleaning himself up and hitting it big in the music business, 50 Cent is using another one of his nine lives to take a shot at Hollywood. In Get Rich or Die Tryin', Fiddy plays a street hood with scores to settle, no matter what his concerned girlfriend and family think. Obviously trying to emulate the success Eminem experienced with 8 Mile, this ultra-violent story of a rapper's rise out of his dead-end life can't even keep up with the fictitious raps-to-riches tale, Hustle & Flow. Barely passable as an actor, 50's lack of a dynamic screen presence is all the more noticeable every time co-star, and legit actor, Terrence Howard is around. But rather than win acting awards for Mr. Cent, this enterprise was clearly created to sell tickets and soundtrack CDs. In a film full of memorably forgettable lines, the best may be: "Out here if you lose your chain, you lose your balls." Judging by Get Rich, it's a good thing he's not talking about Hollywood.
