It's been six long years since Big Momma's House, but now FBI agent Martin Lawrence is back in momma's panties, a fat suit and a flowered dress going undercover as a nanny to nab a crook who is suspected of designing a deadly computer "worm." Like the first, this is less a movie than an opportunity to show off Lawrence's intermittently amusing drag act, weighed down with a series of lard jokes that already seemed old the first time around. With references to Billy Dee Williams and the umpteenth takeoff on Bo Derek's slow motion beach jog, this is a collection of stale gags and predictable situations that could have been written 25 years ago. But it's not all terrible. A scene in a spa where Momma gets down with some Victoria's Secret hotties is raunchy fun, while a disturbed kid who hurls himself off of high places to land flat on his face gets the desired incredulous reaction each of the ten times it's repeated. Mostly, though, this humongous ol' Momma is just getting wearywhich makes Lawrence's final line of dialogue suggesting yet another sequel truly scary.
