Have you seen Madagascar? In that 2005 release, a menagerie of animals, including a lion and a giraffe, escape from New York's Central Park Zoo and wind up on an African adventure. In 2006's The Wild, a group of animals, including a lion and a giraffe, break out of a zoo in New York and wind up on an African adventure. And who says there are no new ideas in Hollywood? On the plus side, nifty voice work from the likes of Kiefer Sutherland, Janeane Garofalo, William Shatner, and Eddie Izzard help set this version apart. The CGI animation is passable, although inferior to the state-of-the-art work on the current king of the cartoon jungle, Ice Age: The Meltdown. Kids will find this a wild and roaringly fun trip, and adults will well, have to drive them to the theater.
