If it's true that the wildly successful X-Men film franchise ends here, then they've saved the best X for last. For lack of a better descriptive phrase, it's awesome. This one's got it alland then some! Notoriously fickle fans had reason to worry when Bryan Singer, director of the first two films, moved on to Superman, leaving this edition in the hands of Rush Hour director Brett Ratner. Fortunately, the tone of the series is intact and Ratner adds even more in-your-face action, a thrilling climactic battle, and more character development. The plot is an intriguing one, forcing the mutants to make a life-changing decision: Accept a "cure" that will allow them to lose their powers and "fit in" with society, or retain their alienating individuality. As always, purists will find stuff to complain about, but summer movies don't get much better than this. We give it three Gs: great action, great actors, and the greatest X-Men movie yet. And stick around through the final credits. All we can tell you is it ain't over till it's over.
