Adults, be warned: If any kid begs you to take them to Daddy Day Camp, just drop them off in front of the theater and keep driving. Yes, it's that unbearable. This desperate sequel to Eddie Murphy's almost equally desperate Daddy Day Care stars Cuba Gooding Jr., who, after doing movies like Boat Trip and now this, should seriously consider giving back his Oscar. Picking up where Eddie left off, he expands his day care business to a summer camp where he hopes to erase painful childhood memories of his own time under the tent and wreak revenge on a former fellow camper, who is now the head of a deluxe rival camp. Of course, the camp Gooding acquires is practically a toxic waste dump that should have been shut down. With a predictably diverse group of ragtag loser kids to deal with and one disastrous happening after another, there are lots of opportunities for lowbrow juvenile humor, and this thing doesn't miss one. If you find yourself really bored, just count the number of fart jokes instead of sheep. You should be nodding off in no time! This serves as a feature directorial debut for TV-kid-star-turned-has-been Fred Savage (The Wonder Years), but he of all people should have recognized this material as nothing more than third-rate sitcom dreck and held out for an edgy indie flick to direct instead of this major-studio schlock. Lights out.
