What it Promises:
Have you heard that the real world is just a façade masking a magical realm of goblins and trolls that only little British kids can see? Spiderwick is yet another "beloved" children's book series made into a movie in the hopes of being a poor man's Harry Potter, a rich man's Golden Compass, or a blue collar man's Chronicles of Narnia. But it does star Nick Nolte, who needs no make-up to play a creature from your childhood nightmares.
