Undercover brother Eddie Griffin takes Three Men and a Baby on a drive-by through the ’hood in this forgettable remake that will have many aching for Steve Guttenberg. (Except Ted Danson.) The shenanigans commence when Lonnie (Griffin) and his two best buddies, G (Anthony Anderson) and Dominic (Michael Imperioli), find themselves the sires in unplanned pregnancies with their respective baby mamas. (Ah, now we get it.) Following is a comprehensive rundown of all the cinematic lessons in parenting: an umbilical cord is not a penis; change your baby and he will pee in your face; Method Man is a phenomenal actor. Underlying the retread material are a couple of laughs—munchkin street hustler Lil’ 2Pac delivers one of the movie’s standout, grizzled performances—but then the revelations set in and we’re subjected to a series of tear-jerking sermons on being a man. (Seriously, we were bawling.)
