After he was diagnosed with a near-fatal brain anyeurism, Neil Young put together the moving album, Prairie Wind. It was such a gut-wrenchingly beautiful work, Oscar winning filmmaker, Jonathan Demme, decided to direct Neil Young: Heart Of Gold, which is easily one of the most extraordinary and emotionally moving concert films ever made. Shot last August at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium during the Prairie Wind tour, this isn't just the next best thing to being there, it's actually better. First rate camera work and flawless digital sound timelessly capture the essence of this wildly influential artist's remarkable talent. Now in his 60th year, Young may be aging, but as Demme's inspiring must-see film proves, he's still just hitting his stride—and for that, not only music fans, but movie fans, should be grateful.
