If you've tuned out all the noise from the Iraq war or don't really care anymore, this is perfect for you, because it methodically dissects how the war came to be and where it all started to go wrong. Unlike most documentaries about the war, there aren't any crying activists or partisan talking heads. It outlines the major turning pointsignoring the looting, firing the entire Iraqi government, disbanding the Iraqi militaryand goes to the source by talking to mid-level government workers and military personnel who were actually on the inside at the time. It's maddening, because it's clear the government is no different than working at a regular company. There's always a few powerful dickwads at the top with their head up their ass ignoring sound advice from lower-level people who actually know what they're doing. If anything it proves that the problem doesn't rest in the military or the people on the ground, but rather the people in Washington who made the worst possible decisions without even visiting Iraq. This doesn't provide answers, but it does provide a clear road map on why Iraq is a mess and what happens when people in power who never had the balls to fight in a war get the chance to run one.
