Prom Night

Release Date:
04/11/2008
MPAA Rating:
MPAA: PG-13
Star Rating:
★½
The Skinny:
Cutie high school senior Donna (Brittany Snow) is preparing for her prom. It should be the night of her life. And who deserves it more? After surviving a horrible tragedy three years prior, her life is looking up, until... The obsessed killer responsible for ruining her life...is...ba-aaack.

The Good:
The trailer for Iron Man that ran during the previews. Fans of the original Prom Night, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and a pre–Naked Gun Leslie Nielsen as her father (weird, right?), might expect a funny, scary remake with a shiny new look and some snappy dialog...

The Bad:
Except the talky parts read like an MTV-scripted reality show. For a slasher flick, there's a decided lack of actual on-screen slashing. And for that matter, where is all the blood? Maybe we've watched too much CSI, but don't people leak a little after being hacked to death?

Oh, the horror:
If you can't write, you're not Rob Zombie, or can't so much as gross us out a little, at least give us some gratuitous prom night drunken sex, or stop wasting our time.

Theater, DVD, or TNT in Five Years?
More like the Lifetime Network later this year, when you have a hangover, can't get off the couch, and you've lost the remote/will to live.
