The Skinny: Special effects legend Ray Harryhausen's work is celebrated in this collection of four of his classic sci-fi and fantasy films: 20 Million Miles to Earth, Earth vs. Flying Saucers, It Came From Beneath the Sea, and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.
The Good: Sure, they may look dated now, but it's great to relive a time when special effects guys had to be sculptors and artists more than computer geeks. And Sinbad alone is worth it, because watching it instantly transports you back to those lazy Sunday mornings when nothing pleased you more than cereal and massive armies of skeleton soldiers.
The Bad: 20 Million Miles to Earth has already come out in a deluxe DVD package. Why not use its slot to push another, maybe more obscure, Harryhausen classic. It's not like there's a shortage of them.
Best Extra: Although the set touts the glory of the colorized versions of some of these movies c'mon. You know colorization sucks. Always. So having the option of watching the original black and white versions is key.
