Quentin Tarantino is ready to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Reservoir Dogs, and you better believe that its chock-full of good shit. Following closely on the heels of his doubleheader release of Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, the anniversary edition of Dogs supplies enough extra material to satisfy even the most hard-core Tarantino fans.
The special-feature package is a mix of elements only the obsessed could enjoy and some that are good for the whole family: Cast members serve up a hilarious tribute to late actor Lawrence Tierney, with an exchange of stories about what a pain in the ass it was to work with the late actorand, suprisingly, for a man who has passed away, theres no sugarcoating. An in-depth look into the entire noir genrewith a list of highly influential actors, movies, and books on the subjectwill have film students messing their drawers. The stash of interviews with some directors from the 92 Sundance Film Festival borders on overkill, but its valuable for Tarantinos description of the mishaps that plagued each of his films initial screenings. The extra and deleted scenes are actually interesting to watch (and, honestly, could have been left in film). And then there are the alternate takes and angles of the now infamous ear scene, which could turn out to be the biggest thing in ear-slicing scenes since well, since the films original.
