Scream 3

Release Date:
Star Rating:
6 out of 10
Scream 3, like the first two films, maintains the blood-soaked status quo sure to keep your date’s hand firmly glued to your knee. Wes Craven returns with the usual suspects—Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox-Arquette, David Arquette—and all-new fresh meat, including babelicious Jenny McCarthy.

Ghostface now terrorizes the set of movie-within-a-movie Stab 3, resulting in a big helping of pop culture references and the standard game of cat and bigger, badder, psycho-murderous cat. Indie-film goddess Parker Posey nearly steals the show as the actress who plays Stab 3’s version of meddling newswoman Gale Weathers. But Campbell gives the best performance, proving she holds this crowd-pleasing franchise together.

Kevin Williamson, who’s too busy writing empty teen dramas, didn’t participate in this installment, and his wit is sorely missed. But Craven keeps the action rolling, throwing in awesome cameos and keeping Campbell convincingly manic and weepy. One last note: For God’s sake, Courteney, have a burger!
