Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's programming for (stoned) adults, is just as funny as it is bizarre, and Sealab 2021 doesn't pretend to make any more sense than the rest of the network's hilarious Sunday-night siblings. Ten- to 12-minute episodes string together non sequiturs on topics ranging from robot monkeys with human brains to feng shui, all poorly dubbed over Hanna-Barbera's original Sealab 2020 animation. Repeat viewings, along with repeat bong hits, will yield more laughs and more quotable lines, and that's really what you're paying for in the first season's 13 episodes. As an added bonus, the DVD comes equipped with the original pitch pilot, which is so crude we're urged by the show's creators to "please be kind." (They chopped up stolen Sealab 2020 tapes they "took" after being fired by the Cartoon Network in the mid-'90s and recorded the dialogue themselves.) The rest of the extras unload alternate endings to a pair of episodes and a bleep-free, curse-filled episode outro. Like most cartoons these days, this is for adults only, and we highly recommend that you finally grow up.
