So you think you can dance?

The Pitch: The classic colorful musical from the 50s featuring dance-guy Gene Kelly flying all over the place.

This Is The Artist: Having just watched both this for the first time ever and The Artist we’re shocked at how similar they are. They’re both about the transition from silent films to talking, only Singin’ in the Rain is in color, has great sound and doesn’t take itself nearly as serious. It also didn’t win best picture.

What It Really Is: Another epic Warner Bros. box set with a crapload of trinkets and special features. While these grand MGM musicals aren’t really our thing, it’s understandable why this movie has endured for as long as it has. Plus, Grandma needs her Blu-ray fix too. And it comes with an umbrella!

Does Blu-ray Make a Difference?  Yes. Just comparing the standard-definition trailer to the Blu-ray version is evidence enough. For a film made 60 years ago they did an amazing job making it look as good as new. Plus, it’s got 4 hours of bonus content that will keep your girlfriend occupied while you try to get those annoying, stupid catchy songs out of your head. (Up yer ass, supposes Moses!)
