The Pitch: Two redneck truckers--the mustached Trans Am driving Bandit (Burt Reynolds) and good ol’ boy Cledus (Jerry Reed)--make a beer run to Texas and pick up a runaway bride (Sally Field) and try to lose a jerky sheriff on their tail (Jackie Gleason).

What It Really Is: Good ol’ fashioned American fun. The spirit is light, the jokes are corny and the car chases are off the charts. It’s already hit Blu-ray before, but this is part of Universal’s 100th Anniversary celebration so there’s a DVD and digital copy included.

Does Blu-ray Make a Difference? Sorta. It’s not the sharpest looking movie, but it’s not supposed to be. It’s got down-home country grit, and no matter how many fancy HD machines they put this movie through, it’ll always keep that southern dirty souf charm.
