We wish all washed-up cartoon superheroes from the 60s could make career comebacks as satisfying as Space Ghosts revitalizing talk show stint on Coast to Coast. Together with his bandleader, Zorak, and producer, Moltar, Space Ghost puts Leno and Letterman to shame, falling asleep on guests, cutting off product plugs, and discharging an errant wrist beam at anyone roaming the set. The first season on DVD features guests like Slash, Hulk Hogan, and Adam West mercilessly edited into sequences of Ghost and his colleagues bandying witless banter. Extras include commentary on how to produce an animated show with no budget, original artwork of the first resketched incarnations of Ghost, and Zorak leading his band through a rocking rendition of Jingle Bells. Its about time we found a space program worth our money.
