The Skinny: Keanu Reeves stars as a burned-out, suicidal L.A. cop dealing with corrupt colleagues that are more dangerous than the thugs he has to bust.
The Good: Scripted by hard-boiled author James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential), Street Kings takes you down those hazy, violence-tinged, run-down L.A. streets mined for similar effect in the likes of Training Day and Dark Blue. Since we never get tired of that, we welcome Kings with open arms (and fully strapped-on bulletproof vest). And the slummy streets of Hell-ay look better than they should on Blu-Ray.
The Bad: It suffers from comparisons to Training Day, since Keanu is no Denzel and the plotline is a little too overly familiar. But still, this is a pretty solid crime thriller that's sure to please.
Best Extra: "L.A. Bete Noir: Writing Street Kings" takes you inside the mind of Ellroy. Don't forget to tip your waitress on the way out.
Check out an exclusive deleted scene from the movie.
