Maybe Fox felt compelled to call this Supercross: The Movie so as not to mislead moviegoers into thinking it's anywhere near as entertaining as the actual sport. Shot on a shoestring budget with lousy camera work, this flick's about as exciting as Golf: The Book. Like middle school, Supercross is all about the hot bike action, while minor things like plot and dialogue don't appear to be a priority. With lines like Thats a pretty mean 450 over there, and My name is Trip, motocross is my lifeit was Dads dream and now its ours, you can bet they spent more time polishing the movie's gleaming dirt bikes than scrubbing the shit off its script. The cast, largely composed of refugees from the WB and public access, try hard to make these wooden lines sing, but it's a lost cause. Niche extreme sports can make for good cinema (see Lords Of Dogtown for more details), but this is just an extreme dud. At one point, when the lead character gets a commercial endorsement, he dreamily exclaims, Dont pinch me because I dont want to wake up from this one! Well put.
