What sort of 12-disc box set only has seven full episodes? One in which all seven episodes run an hour and a half each and feature an astounding amount of companion documentaries (38 in all). Only Spielberg and Lucas could create something this ambitiousa bunch of mini Indy movies spanning more than 30 countries that almost live up to, and sometimes surpass, the feature films (we're looking at you, Temple of Doom). Each episode is a prequel of sorts, showing us how Indiana Jones became the world-renown archaeologist adventurer. It's also a little Forrest Gumplike, since he's always crossing paths with historical icons like Teddy Roosevelt, Picasso, Thomas Edison, and Winston Churchill. There's definitely an educational aspect embedded in this show; and while we appreciate the effort that went toward the extras, we'd suggest just renting the episodes and waiting for the next seasonthere were three in all. Or, if you have a buddy who's a huge Indy fan, shell out the cash, watch them, then hide them all over his apartment after setting up a series of elaborate and deadly traps. If he's really a fan we're sure he'll appreciate the gesture. If not he'll at least appreciate you wrangling a deadly cobra and putting it in the hamper.
