The Chronicles of Narnia is right up there with the first time you saw boobies on the list of Great Moments in Childhood, so it's only natural to think that Hollywood would screw the whole thing up. Well, the good news is that Disney doesn't miss with this magical adaptation of the beloved C.S. Lewis books. Sure, some people might label this the "talking beaver" movie, but once you get over the jolt of seeing wolves and lions carrying on everyday conversation as though they were on Live With Regis and Kelly, you're completely hooked on this Wizard Of Oz style fantasy. For those who didn't read the book: Four children discover a portal to a magical, ice-laden world, where they must save the residents from a White Witch who makes Martha Stewart look like a fun date. When the Witch kills Aslan the Lion, spiritual leader of the world, the kids spring into action. Filled with irresistible characters, inspired storytelling, and dazzling special effects (particularly in the climactic battle scene with echoes of Braveheart), this is one film adaptation you'll remember for years to come. After all, who doesn't like a nice talking beaver?
