When Superman Returns sells out this weekend, your girlfriend will be dragging you to see this one. Luckily, it's pretty good. Meryl Streep's "boss from hell" is more evil than any of the villains the Man of Steel will ever have to face. Based on the best-selling chick novel of the same name, the film revolves around New York's fashion industry as defined by hard-nosed magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Streep, who manages to do the impossible by topping herself in the year's first Oscar-worthy performance). When she hires her umpteenth new assistant (Anne Hathaway), the fresh-from-college girl has to navigate waters more dangerous than a Florida swamp. With an outstanding cast (particularly Stanley Tucci and brilliant newcomer Emily Blunt as a senior assistant on the verge of a nervous breakdown), this is one Devil you will want to spend time with. Sure, it's an estrogen-loaded flick, but it's sensationally entertaining in every way for anyone who's ever had a nightmare job.
