Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan
The Skinny: A mysterious airborne forcea biological weapon? A poltergeist?is causing people in the Northeast to suddenly stop what they're doing and commit suicide in ingenious ways. This, naturally, causes science teacher Elliot (Mark Walhberg) to furrow his brow a lot.
The Good: Um it's short?
The Bad: Whoo boy. The death scenes might have been creepy if the entire movie wasn't completely derailed by its idiotic script. Every actor, even the no-namers, speak as if they are reading aloud from a book that they're as bored by as you are. Also? Menacing shots of wind? Really, Night? That's all you've got?
The Mother Load: If we've read all of Night's "hints" correctly and the creepy old woman in the farmhouse is, in fact, suppose to be Mother Nature, then we've gone from disliking this movie immensely to outright loathing it.
Theater, DVD, or TNT in Five Years?Don't bother. Even without any toxins in the theater, halfway through we tried to slit our wrists with the press notes.
